Ramon Felix brings his hybrid eye to his photographic work which features a painterly composition and love for color with a sweetly illicit undercurrent that depict the contradictions embodied in his Southern Californian / Mexican life. Played against a backdrop of familia and the fertile crescent of popular culture all subjects are treated with generosity, humor and acceptance as they are presented for us to consider, without feeling of harshness, able to enter us quietly, show us their shadows and not provoke our suspicion, earn our respect even as they showcase a mystery neither they nor we can fully resolve. In Ramon's photographic milieu, People, Places and Things are permitted all their dimensions, directly communicate their beauty, indirectly appeal to our emotions.
